Adding Special Effects to text There are three ways to add a special effect .
  1. The Ribbon:  In the font section of the Home Tab. Use dialog box launcher to get all special effects.
  2. The keyboard using the CTRL key. Fast keys but only for the most commonly used special effects.
  3. Right Mouse button over the selected text. A contextual menu appears. Most commonly used way to apply special effects but limited to which ones you can change. 

Special Effects may be added before typing the text or after typing the text.

Format as you type the text
Ribbon
  1. Home Tab / Font Section / select the effect [to begin]
  2. Type the text
  3. Home tab / Font Section / Select the effect  [to end]
Keyboard
  1. Type CTRL/ code for the effect  [to begin effect]
  2. Type the text
  3. CTRL / code for the effect [same as above to end effect]
Right Mouse Button
  1. Right click for the menu. 
  2. Select the special effect you want. 
  3. Type your text. Right Click for the menu. 
  4. Select the special effect to turn it off. 
After the text has been typed
Ribbon
  1. Select the text the effects are to be added to
  2. Home Tab / Font Section / select the effect 
Keyboard
  1. Select the text the effects are to be added to
  2. Type CTRL/ code for the effect  
Right Mouse Button
  1. Select the text the effects are to be added to
  2. Right click for the menu. 
  3. Select the special effect you want.
