Quick Access Toolbar: Excel

For many previous versions we have been able to edit the Toolbars but not many knew that was possible and it was not an easy process.

The 2007 Office provided a Quick Access Toolbar in the top left hand corner of the screen.
The save, undo and redo are the default icons on the toolbar. We can add the icons we to the items we use most often.

This will save you time. Items that are in dialogue boxes [several clicks to get to it] are faster to get to if they are on the Quick Access Toolbar.

I like to save paper so I always have Print Preview [or Print Preview & Print - depending on the version] on my Quick Access Toolbar. To add it to the toolbar:

Click on the arrow to the right of the Redo.
The following menu appears.

Note the check marks to the left of the words indicate which are currently on the toolbar.

Click on the Print Preview and Print
The drop down menu disappears and the icon now appears on the toolbar.

There are many other items I want to add which are not on the list.
Click on the arrow to view the menu.
At the bottom of the list is More Commands... as shown below

The following screen appears:

You are in the Excel Options.
The far left column is the Excel Options menu
The right section has two columns.
The right column shows what is currently on the Quick Access Toolbar [QAT].
The left column has the options we can add to the toolbar.
Currently it is showing us the Popular Commands. That is the title at the top of the left column.
Scroll down the list using the scroll bar on the right side of the left column.

Click on Insert Sheet Column
Click on the Add button between the two columns
It is copied to the QAT column on the right.
Click Add again to also add Insert Sheet Row

Now those items are on the toolbar column

We can now change the order of the items so they are organized how you want them!
Click on Save [blue bar appears]

On the right are two arrows. Use the arrows to move each icon into the order you want the toolbar to appear.
The up arrow is grayed out and not available because the Save icon is at the top. Click the down arrow twice.

The list now looks like the following.

Click the OK button in the bottom right hand corner of the Excel Options window.

The Quick Access Toolbar now looks like the following:
